7th January 1963 - Parks Department (Operations Card 26 D3)

Proposed acquisition of land for joint use with Education Department

P.C. Min. 25142 of 7.1.63 resolved that approval in principle be given to the proposal for the joint use as public open space and school playing fields of land at Gibbins Road, Selly Oak and at (other areas in the city), and requested the General Manager to submit a further report in due course, following discussions between officers of the Education and Parks Depts., regarding the financial implications involved in the purchase of the sites, and the future maintenance thereof.

Land acquired from Birmingham Battery and Metal Company – 1951 – Charities Act 1960

In a letter from the Ministry of Education dated 2nd October 1963, it was learnt that this Foundation situated at the rear of Nos. 52-62, Gibbins Road, area 2.19 acres, had been entered in the Register of Charities in accordance with the provisions of Section 4 of the Charities Act 1960.
